88 PITCHES & 2 HOMERS IS ALL IT TOOK

The Hornets earned their first Orange Empire Conference win on Monday thanks to an 88-pitch performance and two home runs for a 4-1 home-win over Irvine Valley College.

Due to the incoming rain, the game was moved up from Tuesday to today on Hornet Field. After today's impressive all-around performance, maybe the FC baseball team should play on Mondays.

Fullerton got on the board in the bottom of the first when Isaiah Marquez scorched the ball over the left-center ivy for a solo home run.

The Lasers scored its lone run in the top of the second on Connor Tallakson's single to left field plating Shane Stafford.

FC went up 2-1 in the sixth inning when Kaipo Haole ripped a singled to left field scoring Britton Beeson, who slid home from second.

Britton Beeson broke the game open in the eighth hammering a two-run homer that burnt the left field net.

The most impressive stat of the day was the 88-pitch complete-game performance by Deven Beasley (1-2). He had only 3 hits against with 1 earned run, had 0 walks and 5 strikeouts.

Beeson had 3 hits on the day, including the home run and a double (2 runs 2 RBI). Isaiah Marquez had 2 hits, including the homer (1 run 1 RBI). Kaipo Haole had 2 hits (1 RBI) and made 4 outstanding defensive plays, including a diving play in foul territory.

Up Next: The Hornets (13-10 overall, 1-3 OEC) will play game two of the three-game series with Irvine Valley on Thursday, March 16th at IVC. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
