SBCC posted a dominating 8-1 win over Orange Coast on Friday at Pershing Park.

It was the first men's tennis win of the season and the first college win for new coach Nathan Jackmon. SBCC is 1-2 and the Pirates are 1-3.

Arthur Scharff rallied for a 5-7, 7-6 (5), 10-6 (tiebreaker) win over Daniel Zerlotti in the No. 3 singles. After securing the win with a 5-1 singles advantage, the Vaqueros swept the three doubles sets, dropping just three games.

"We are very excited to get our first win," said Jackmon. "Our players were locked-in and focused from the beginning. Our hard work is starting to pay off.

"The point of the day goes to Kyosuke Kiuchi, who hit a tweener followed by a backhand cross-court pass that got the crowd going. Both Zander and Taylor Kleine notched their second singles wins of the year."

The Vaqueros will play the next three on the road, starting Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Glendale.
