Women’s Tennis Takes Down Antelope Valley with New-Look Squad

The Riverside City College women's tennis team hosted the Antelope Valley College Maudaurs in non-conference action on Friday afternoon for its season opener. Three players made their collegiate debut and it paid dividends as the Tigers cruised to a 7-2 victory.

Riverside swept duos play with freshman Kaden Richards and sophomore Susana Iniguez holding down the top spot. They worked to an 8-1 triumph. Sophomore Adrielle Fotchi and freshman Monica Carrillo followed with an 8-3 win at the second position, while sophomore Hailey Dunkel and freshman Christa McDowell capped the doubles sweep at the third position with a flawless 8-0 score.

Richards followed at the top spot in singles with a straight set sweep at 7-5, 6-0. Carrillo followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the fourth position. McDowell wrapped up a 6-1, 6-1 win at the fifth spot, while Dunkel polished off a 6-2, 6-1 win at the sixth slot.
