Vikings bounce back with 7-0 win over East Los Angeles

LONG BEACH – Sophomore Kirstin Sanchez went 3 for 4 with a pair of triples, a double, and 2 RBI to help lead Long Beach City College to a 7-0 South Coast Conference victory over visiting East Los Angeles College on Wednesday.

Alia Marquez also had a big game at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a triple and double with 2 RBI. Gladys Garcia (2 for 4) knocked in a pair of runs and Giselle Cobian drew a base-loaded walk to force in another run to close out the LBCC scoring.

Olivia Ramirez and Ashley Hester combined for the shutout in the circle. Ramirez earned the victory to improve to 6-2. She went 4 innings, allowing just 3 hits. Hester closed it out with 3 perfect innings.

Long Beach was able to bounce back from Thursday's tough 9-1 loss to No. 5 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College. The Vikings moved to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in South Coast Conference play.

They are back in action tomorrow (Mar. 16) when they host Los Angeles Harbor College in a 2:30 pm conference game.
