Legan's 33 points, 20 rebounds propel Pirates past Copper Mountain

COSTA MESA -- The impressive stat lines continue to pop up for the Orange Coast College women's basketball team as the Pirates rolled to an 88-50 nonconference win over visiting Copper Mountain on Tuesday night.

Tuesday's big-game performer was sophomore guard Alexis Legan, who scored a game-high 33 points to go along with 20 rebounds and seven assists, lifting Coast to its sixth straight win. Over that six game span, the Pirates have outscored the opposition by an average of 36 points per game, so Tuesday's 38-point win was right on schedule.

Karina Cabrera added to the Pirates' offense with 18 points, while Annie Trinh tossed in 14 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Lilly Roberts put in a strong performance off the bench with seven points and nine rebounds.

For the Fighting Cacti (3-5), Amy Yellowman led the way with 11 points, while Angelica Enriquez added 10. CMC shot an icy-cold 18-of-62 from the floor and was just 3-of-21 from 3-point range, making points hard to come by, especially early on.

Coast took control of the game right from the opening whistle and led 25-6 after one quarter of play. That would be as close as Copper Mountain would get all night.

OCC will hit the road for most of December and the trek begins on Thursday at Allan Hancock College with a tournament-opening matchup against the host Bulldogs, beginning at 7 p.m.
