Owls Settle for Split at Pirate Classic Tri

Citrus College grabbed a three-set victory over Imperial Valley College (29-27, 25-21, 25-19) to start the Pirate Classic Tri Friday but dropped the match in the nightcap to Ventura College (25-14, 25-23, 25-14).  

With the split, the Owls sit 2-4 on the season.

In the first match, Delaney Tate led the Owls with 18 kills on a .342 hitting clip and Faith Evaro finished with 13 kills on a .310 attack percentage. Maritza Sanchez moved the ball for Citrus, finishing with 47 assists.

Defensively, Tate led with 12 digs while Evelyn Enriquez contributed 11 digs. Kalin Greene had her hands in three blocks in the win.

In the nightcap, Tate carried the Owl offense with 16 kills on an impressive .429 attack percentage. Enriquez posted 15 digs to try to keep Citrus in rallies.

Citrus returns home to host NCAA Division III opponent University of Redlands on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Owls Nest.
