COD (15-0) cruised through the regular season and found themselves the #1 seed in SoCal, beginning the defense of their 2019 State Championship, they swept the #7 seeded Santa Barbara City Vaqueros (4-5), 9-0.

The Roadrunners are the defending CCCAA Men's Tennis State Champions, winning the title in 2019, as there was no CCCAA Men's Tennis State Championship in 2020 or 2021.

In doubles play, the team of freshman Matthew Shaw (Baton Rouge (LA) GED Testing Online) and freshman Eita Ishikawa (Yokkaichi (JPN) Yokkaichi Technical) won easily, 8-1. The team of freshman Raymundo Chavez (Ensenada (BCN, MX) Centro de Bachillerato Tecnologico Inds. Servicos (CBT is 41) and freshman Marco Alvarez (Chula Vista Eastlake) took down the #7 seeded Vaqueros, 8-4. College of the Desert would win the third doubles match in a walkover.

In singles play, Chavez and freshman John Dick (Newport Beach Corona del Mar) dominiated in their singles victories against Santa Barbara City, downing their Vaqueros opponents in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Alvarez, Ishikawa and Shaw each won in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0 and the Roadrunners took the sixth singles match in a walkover.

The next match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be at home where they will host the 2nd round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs, welcoming in the #2 seeded Irvine Valley Lasers on April 12th at 2p. 

College of the Desert defeated Santa Barbara City College, 9-0 in the 1st round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
