Beach Volleyball Makes History With Program's First Two Wins

The MSJC beach volleyball team earned their first two wins in program history on Friday as they defeated College of the Desert and Riverside on their brand new courts in Menifee.

The Eagles picked up wins from the teams of Keana Sanzotero and Alicia Vasquez at #3 21-11 & 21-17, at #4 as Aleya Starnes and Laelanie Isbell won 21-17 and 21-10 as well as from Audrey Underwood and Iris Del Valley at number five 21-19 and 21-15 to earn the 5-4 team win.

In the second match of the day the Eagles swept RCC 5-0 as they lost just one set.  Luci Villifana and Chloe Mata teamed to win at number one in a close match 20-22, 21-12, and 15-13.  Alex Sotello and Chanelle Ongchangco won 21-12 and 21-17, while Sanzotero and Vasquez picked up their second win of the day 21-11 and 21-14.

This is the first season of Beach volleyball for the Eagles and the two wins were the first in program history.  MSJC started the season on February 9th when they hosted Mt. SAC.  The Egles now 2-1 on the season will play again on March 7th when they travel to San Diego Mesa for three matches, the next time the team will be at home is Friday March 18th.
