Citrus College took an early lead but couldn't hold on in a 7-5 loss at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Owls slip to 15-19 overall, while the Mounties improve to 26-7.

Robert Moreno led the Owls with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

In their first chance at the plate, the Owls broke through and scored three runs to take an early 3-0 lead. Devon Diaz (1-for-3) led off with a base hit and came home on a Chad Green (1-for-5) double. Robert Valdivia (1-for-4) followed with a triple to send Green home and tagged up on a Jared Gener sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.

Mt. SAC scored one run in the second and two in the third to tie the game, before taking the lead in the bottom of the fifth.

Citrus took back its upper hand in the seventh, plating two runs to jump back in front 5-4. Roman Robles led off with a walk and Nicholas Santiago drew a rogue pitch to the body to join him on base with one out. Another walk loaded the bases before a wild pitch sent Robles home for the tying run.

The Mounties intentionally walked Conner McKinney to create a force play opportunity, but a Mountie error allowed Santiago to touch home safely.

Unfortunately for the Owls, Mt. SAC managed three runs in the eighth to grab the lead back.

The Owls tried to rally in the ninth but the Mounties held on for the win.

Citrus returns home to host the College of the Canyons on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
