Falcons defeat Sac City in 5-set thriller

The Falcons finally found a way to win a 5th-set against a Big 8 Conference opponent – something they hadn't done this season – when they defeated Sacramento City on Friday night at Falcon Gym, 25-15, 19-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-13.   The team recovered from a 2 sets to 1 deficit to win the final two sets and earn their third victory in Big 8 Conference play.  "They love to make things interesting," noted head coach Molly Hanrahan, referring to the 3-7 hole the Falcons had to dig out of in the final set.  With her two middle blockers out of action with injuries and personal commitments, Harahan had to rely on starting setter Kendall Hughes to fill in at middle, and she responded with her best game of the season.  Outside hitter Katy Kasparian had a big night as well, as the Panthers had no answer at the net for her powerful kills.

The Falcons (9-17 overall, 3-9 in Big 8) face a tough foe on Wednesday at Sierra (16-6 overall, 12-0 in Big 8; the Wolverines are currently ranked #7 in the state), then return to FLC for a Friday night match against Santa Rosa (5-11 overall, 3-9 in Big 8).
