Early runs hold up as Falcons top Yuba, 5-3
When the Yuba 49ers and Folsom Lake Falcons combined for six runs in the first inning on Tuesday evening, it looked as though it would be a long, high-scoring night at Falcon Field. But over the final eight innings, the teams both managed just one more run apiece, resulting in a 5-3 Falcon win for their tenth win of the season and third in a row. Yuba jumped on Falcon starter Carter Delaney for 3 hits and two runs in the first inning, but Delaney settled in and was virtually untouchable the rest of the way, allowing just three more hits in his 7-2/3 innings while earning the victory. The Falcons wasted no time getting back the lead with three hits in the bottom half of the first, including Logan Sutter's 2-run homer to left field that put the Falcons ahead 3-2. Drake Digiorno also tripled to right-center and scored on a sacrifice fly for a 4-2 lead.
Cole Tremain pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn another save as the Falcons improved to 10-2-1. They'll face Yuba again on Thursday afternoon in Marysville at 2:00 pm.
