(Monterey Park, CA) Gabriel Arredondo scored an unassisted goal in the 74th minute to break a scoreless tie, lifting Mt. SAC (10-1-1, 4-0-1) to a 1-0 South Coast Conference win over host East Los Angeles College (4-7-5, 2-3) on Tuesday afternoon.

A tight Mountie defense held the Huskies to only one shot on goal, which goalkeeper Jacob Cardenas (90 minutes) saved. Mt. SAC made eight shots on goal, but only one—which was all that was needed—found the back of the net.

Including Monday's 1-0 forfeit win over San Bernardino (2-9-4), the Mounties' unbeaten streak now stands at nine.

Mt. SAC is currently ranked No. 3 in the state—tied with Golden West (9-0-4)—in the latest California Community College Sports Information Association's poll and occupies first place in the SCC North standings, a game ahead of Rio Hondo (9-2-3, 3-1-1).

The Mounties return to action on Friday, Oct. 22, at Long Beach (5-1-6, 2-0-2) at 3 p.m. in an SCC matchup.
