SHASTA WINS 3 OF 4 ON WEEK

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team won three out of four games on the week, beawwting Yuba College 9-5 at home before taking a three-game series against Canada College with 6-4 and 14-13 wins before falling 18-9.

Giacomo Crosetti hit safely in each game, going 8 for 18 on the week with two doubles and 10 RBIs to lead the explosive Knight offense.

Shasta 9, Yuba 5
Mario Hernandez, AJ Davies and Jaden Gorge each had RBIs in a three-run seventh inning for the Knights to pull away. Gorge had the lone multi-hit game for Shasta, going 2 for 5. Crosetti was 1 for 5 with a run and an RBI, Derek Ray was 1 for 2 with a run and two walks, Hunter Pinkston had three stolen bases and scored once and Keanu Mizuta was 1 for 1 with two RBIs. Starting pitcher Kaden Nicholes earned a no decision after striking out four and walking none while giving up two earned runs on three hits in three innings. Alex Alvarez struck out three and gave up one run on three hits in three innings of relief.

Shasta 6, Canada 4
Gorge broke a 2-all tie with a two-run double in the fourth. Hayden Boyes hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Crosetti drew a bases loaded walk in the eighth to pad the Knight lead late in the game. Shasta had 11 hits from eight players. Gorge was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs, Boyes was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and a stolen base, Davies was 2 for 3 with a double and a run, Ray was 1 for 3 with a double, a run and two stolen bases and Mizuta was 1 for 2 with a double and three walks. Jay Mendez struck out seven and walked none while giving up two runs on five hits across seven innings to earn the win. Corey Ober earned the save, giving up two runs on two hits in two innings and striking out four.

Shasta 14, Canada 13 (11)
Shasta scored three runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to win. Crosetti hit an RBI double, Ray drew a bases loaded walk and Crosetti scored when Davies reached on a catcher's interference to end the game. Crosetti was 3 for 6 with a double, triple, five RBIs and two runs, Davies was 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, Ethan Williams was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs, and Chris Jacobsen was 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Shasta used six pitchers in the game. Tysson Unciano got the win by striking out his only batter he faced to end the 11th. Ryan Rudd allowed two unearned runs on four hits across 2.2 innings of relief.

Canada 18, Shasta 9
Shasta answered Canada's seven-run eighth with a seven-run frame of its own to trail 11-9 heading into the ninth but the Colts scored seven in the following inning to pull away for the win. Crosetti was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, Mizuta was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs, and Stephen Nelson was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Starting pitcher Payton Jeffries allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings.

Shasta (5-7) hosts Sierra College Tuesday before opening Golden Valley Conference play on the road at Butte Friday and hosting a doubleheader against the Roadrunners Saturday.
