WINNING THE HOME OPENER

The FC baseball squad welcomed Cerritos College to Hornet Field for its 2022 home opener and defeated the Falcons 2-1.

The Hornets completed a two-game sweep over the Falcons after beating them 12-0 on Kincaid Field on Thursday.

Fullerton's starting pitcher Jon Sarmiento (1-0) grabbed the win going 6 strong innings while allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, and 5 K's. Angelo Aguilera came in relief throwing 3 innings of no-hit baseball. He earned the save dishing out 3 strikeouts with 0 walks. 

Cerritos came up with the game's first run in the opening inning when Moses Dokes hit into a groundout to FC shortstop David Barrios that scored Julian Francois.

Fullerton snatched a run back in the 3rd inning when Miguel Ortiz punched a single through the right side scoring RJ Vanderhook.

FC scored the final and winning run in the 4th inning when Garet Crenshaw worked the count for a walk with the bases loaded bringing David Barrios across home plate.

A total of 5 hits were had by Fullerton players Garet Crenhaw, RJ Vanderhook, Miguel Ortiz, David Barrios (double to right), and Haku Dudoit

Up Next: The Hornets (2-0 overall) travel down to the San Diego area where they will play at Southwestern College on Tuesday, February 1st. The first pitch goes out at 1:00 pm.
