SAC Baseball Overpowers Compton with 21 Runs

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Baseball put 21 runs on the scoreboard to overpower the Compton Tartars (3-3) in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Dons (4-3) won their second straight with an outburst of offense as they collected 22 hits on the day. 

In the first inning, the Dons fell behind after Compton posted 3 runs to open the game. Following a quiet bottom half of the first, SAC held the Tartars scoreless in the top of second before rallying to take the lead with six runs on five hits. 

Compton then answered with a run in the ensuing inning but could not slow down the Don bats, surrendering 11 more runs over the next two innings.

Matthew Dobson had himself a game with five runs batted, three hits and two runs scored. Michael Poot and Mario Tostado recorded three RBI each while combining for five hits. 

Second year players Connor Dietsch, Austin Haller and Marc Schavone contributed with two hits each while Eddie Pelc came up with three hits in his second start at centerfield. 

David Celoski picked up the win with 2.2 innings of work, two earned runs and four strikeouts. Joey Iglesias, Rocco Gurrola, Robert Bolton and Noe Novella threw a scoreless inning each to close out the game for the Dons. 

Santa Ana will be back at home on Thursday to host Cerritos (2-4) for the first of their two game series. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
