Women's Soccer Keeps Streak going with a Win at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College women's soccer team hosted the College of the Sequoias Giants in just their fourth game of the season at the BC Soccer Field on a toasty Friday. The Renegades had a turn of events from the last time the two teams met up last year with a 3-0 win over the Giants today rather than COS taking the win.

The Gades netted the first goal in the sixth minute when midfielder Denise Ortiz Perez took a penalty shot for the team after an aggressive COS player intentionally tripped a BC player. Defense was the game for the rest of the half and both teams only had one shot on goal each.

Into the second half at the 58th minute BC would find the net once more. Ortiz Perez scored her second goal of the season into the far right corner of the net assisted by teammate Karla Esqueda Cardona. The final goal of the game came from striker Esqueda Cardona in the 72nd minute. Sequoia would get three penalty shots but only found themselves with the ball in the net once but was called offsides. Goalkeeper ended the day with five total saves.

With the win, the Renegades hold on to a 4-0 record on the season. They will play the next five game at home starting, Tuesday (Sept. 13), against Allan Hancock.
