No. 10 SBCC Claims WSC North Championship in Sweep of LA Mission

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – On Friday, the No. 10 SBCC women's volleyball team swept LA Mission on Sophomore Night at the Sports Pavilion, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20.

"Tonight's sweep clinched us a share of the WSC North Championship!" head coach Kat Niksto said. "On sophomore night, we honored Lauren Holsted, Bella Johnson, Lily Krongold and Lanie DeSano-Smith for their time here at SBCC."

The Vaqueros (21-4 overall, 8-2 WSC) finished in a three-way tie for first place, clinching their first conference championship since 2017.

"Bella responded with hitting a blistering .429%, leading the team with 12 kills. Lauren provided two aces, four digs, and passed a 2.29 in serve receive. Caroline McCarty was also on fire tonight offensively with 10 kills and a .364% hitting percentage to go along with five digs and an ace. A very balanced night for us all around!"

Middle blocker Karoline Ruiz was also efficient with six kills on a .417 kill percentage. Libero Jacelin McKie led the team with 14 digs, while defensive specialist Jordyn Anderson finished with seven digs.

Setter Emma Crabbe had 37 assists to go with five digs. Her 12.3 assists per set average was the second-highest for a Vaquero this season.

SBCC returns to the court next Tuesday, Nov. 16 for a Conference Crossover match against Santa Monica at 6:00 p.m.
