COD Football moves to 2-0 after dethroning the Monarchs on the road, 27-10

COD (2-0) received contributions from everyone as the Roadrunners begin the season 2-0 for the first time since 2011, going on the road and knocking off the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs (0-2), 27-10.

Freshman defensive lineman Terence McGary (Avondale (AZ) Westview) had 8 total tackles, assisting on six of them, plus two sacks for a loss of 16 yards, 2.5 tackles for loss totaling 17 yards and two quarterback hurries and sophomore quarterback Cesar Vela (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 8 for 11 passing with 75 yards and a long of 22 yards and rushed 7 times for 96 yards, plus a long of 60 yards and two scores.

The Roadrunners played the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs of Valley Glen for the first time in program history in 1986 and have an 6-4 record against the Monarchs Desert has a 3-2 record at Valley Glen. The next game for Desert is at home on Saturday, September 17th, when Desert will host the Citrus Figthing Owls of Glendora. The Roadrunners first played Citrus in 1988 and have a 7-12 overall record against the Fighting Owls, including a 6-2 record in Palm Desert.
