Bobcats rebound at Cuesta

The Saddleback baseball team bounced back from a loss on Thursday with a 10-2 win at Cuesta College on Friday in San Luis Obispo.  The Bobcats had great performances from Dylan Singh and Zachary Schwartzberg in the win.

Saddleback hasn't faced a ton of adversity so far this season.  The Bobcats had a little test on Friday after dropping an 11-inning game at Cuesta on Thursday.   Saddleback passed the test with flying colors, thanks in part to Dylan Singh and Zachary Schwartzberg.

Singh had his first start of the season on the mound and was brilliant.  The freshman lefty pitched through the fifth inning, surrendering no runs on three hits with three strikeouts.  Singh got himself into a little jam in the first inning when the Cougars loaded the bases before he got a pop-up to second base to get out of the inning.  He then got into a grove, allowing just two base-runners over the next four innings.

Saddleback finally broke through in the top half of the sixth inning when they scored two runs for a 2-0 lead.  Brent Riddle started the rally when he doubled home Jason Hefft for the first run of the game.  The next batter was Schwartzberg, who singled home Riddle for a 2-0 advantage.  For Schwartzberg it was the second of four hits on the day as he finished 4-for-5 with three RBI.  He was back in the thick of things in the top half of the seventh inning when he doubled home Riddle for the fifth run of the inning and a 7-0 lead.  Schwartzberg then drove home another run in the top half of the eighth inning when he singled home Tyler DeClusin to put the Bobcats up 10-0.

Saddleback will have the weekend off before hosting Palomar College next Tuesday.  The Bobcats and Comets are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
