Softball At Its Best As Season Closing

Better late than never for the Pasadena City College softball team. The Lancers ran a 2022 season-best winning streak to four games on Thursday in edging Rio Hondo, 2-1, in eight innings and won their second straight South Coast Conference game of the year.

The Lancers improved to 14-24 overall, but have been at their best over the last 12 games as they are playing at a .667 winning clip (won 8 of 12 games). PCC also upped a rough record in the South Coast to 3-16 after winning just once over the first 17 games of conference play. 

On Thursday in the team's final home game at Robinson Park, The Lancers went to extra frames and won a walk-off over Rio Hondo, 2-1, in eight innings. Kimberly Dea delivered the game-winning RBI double to score Priscilla Ortega.

Dea, the team's leftfielder, also knocked in PCC's other run with a third-inning single. First baseman Marcella Ordonez batted 2-for-4. 

Kiley Kraft once again made an impressive pitching performance as she scattered seven hits and went all eight innings in her longest stint of the season. Kraft improved to 12-6 in the circle and dropped her ERA to 2.95. 

LATEST UPDATE

On Friday, Cerritos College snapped the Lancers 4-game win streak, 5-1. Ordonez slugged a solo home run in the fifth for PCC's lone run and Giselle Lopez batted 2-for-3. 

The Lancers close out the 2022 season on Tuesday, April 26 in a 5 p.m. game at SCC first-place Mt. San Antonio.
