With the score knotted at 2-2 in the top of the seventh at Santa Rosa, with one out, Michelle Gonzalez at third and Tyavana Salazar at the plate, West Valley coach Vicky Piatt called for a squeeze bunt. Salazar and Gonzalez executed the play perfectly and the Gonzalez run gave the Vikings a 3-2 lead they would not relinquish.

The Vikings (8-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and would add another run in the top of the third before the Bear Cubs (10-7) tied it at 2-2 in the home half of the third. WVC pushed across the winning run on the Salazar/Gonzalez squeeze four innings later and winning pitcher Cayla Williams kept SRJC off the board in the bootom of the seventh.

Williams got the complete-game win, scattering five hits and striking out five. She was also 3-for-4 with two RBI at the plate, while Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Maddie Grissom was 2-for-4 with a double and Kianna Lum was 2-for-2.
