Women's Water Polo: Owls Snag Two Conference Wins

Citrus Women's Water Polo tool a quick road trip up to the central coast to play two WSC conference matches on Saturday. The Owls took on Cuesta and LA Valley, snatching wins in each matchup.

The first game, which came Saturday morning against Cuesta, went the Owls' way as they handily beat the Cougars 11-3. The win is the 2nd in as many duels with Cuesta, as Citrus beat them 10-3 earlier this month. The Owls had strong performances from several individuals. Hannah Long played a solid defensive game, notching 4 steals, as well as 3 assists and a goal. Lauren Olivier posted 4 steals in the game, and added a drawn ejection and an assist. Rachel Sherman led all scorers with 4 goals, and she also had 4 steals and 2 assists. Goalie Kate Carlyle recorded 4 saves on 7 shots faced.

Saturday's 2nd game was against LA Valley. Citrus beat the Monarchs 14-10. Sherman had her career best game in the contest, shattering her career/season best in goals with 8, and piled on 6 steals to round out her stat line. Keylee Burke recorded 4 assists, a steal and a block, and Olivier got 2 steals and an assist. Francesca Vargas scored 2 goals, and Hannah Long scored 3 goals with 2 steals and a drawn ejection. 

The wins improve the Owls to 14-5 overall, with a 3-1 conference mark. The ladies are back in action Wednesday when they host Ventura for a conference match. Game time is 3:30 at the Citrus Aquatics Center.
