Glendale bounces back to beat Grossmont 11-5 on Feb. 17; Izzy Madariaga drives in four runs
After falling to visiting Grossmont 9-4 Tuesday at home, the GCC baseball team got exactly what it needed Thursday Feb. 17 when they rallied to beat the host Griffins 11-5 to improve to 8-3 this season.
The bounce back win was led offensively by Izzy Madariaga with a bases clearing double in the 5th inning to give the Vaqs a 5-3 lead as well as a run scoring single in the five run eighth inning that increased Glendale's lead from 6-5 to the final of 11-5. Joey Criag and Adrian Gonzales helped get the ball rolling for GCC in the first inning with run scoring doubles to give the visitors a quick 2-0 lead. Reliever Aaron Suval got the win with 3.1 innings pitched allowing four hits, striking out three allowing one walk and no runs.
Glendale continues non-conference play next week play at Fullerton Thursday Fe, 24 at 2 pm and returns home the next day, Friday Feb. 25 to host Chaffey at 2:30 pm at Stengel Field
