Vaqs struggle mightly in 54-6 loss to West L.A. Saturday Oct. 5
Winless in its four previous games, Glendale was out to make a statement heading into Saturday's American Conference Pacific Division opener against West L.A. Saturday at Sartoris Field but fell to the Wildcats 54-6.
Now 0-5 and 0-1, the Vaqueros only had six points to show on a day when the visitors piled up 625 yards of total offense while the Vaqueros managed less than 200. Though they ran only 11 less plays than WLAC, 67-56, but it was the 48 rushing attempts that amassed 463 yards and six of its scores. The one GCC score came on a 3 yard run by quarterback Nathan Eldridge with 1:39 left in the game and was followed by a missed PAT attempt.
Eldridge came in to start the second half and finished with 81 yards passing on nine of 15 and threw two interceptions. Tru Fugate rushed for 54 yards on 14 carries and Eldridge chipped in with 35 on eight carries. Giovanni Figueroa caught two passes for 36 yards. Adam Martinez had nine tackles on defense, six solo and Michael Stanford also had nine stop, seven solo.
Glendale continues conference play Saturday Oct. 12 at Chaffey at 6 pm.
