Bobcats keep pace with latest win

The Saddleback women's volleyball team remained in a tie for second place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 3-0 win against Riverside City College on Friday night inside the gymnasium.  The Bobcats trail Irvine Valley College by one game in the standings.

Saddleback was coming off of the biggest win of the season against Irvine Valley on Wednesday and people wondered how the squad would handle the recent success in a match against RCC on Friday.  The Bobcats passed the test with flying colors, sweeping past the Tigers for their 11th win of the season.

Saddleback defeated Riverside City 25-23, 25-21, 26-24 in completing the sweep.  The Bobcats were challenged in the third and final set, trailing for the majority of the game.  Saddleback then turned up the heat in the final stretch to break out the brooms.

Sydney Brown and Jolie Robinson paced the Saddleback offense, finishing with 14 kills apiece to lead the team.  The Bobcats had 58 digs in three sets, with Robinson (12), Lilyann Horner (11) and Haley Jones (10) all finishing in double-digits.  Logan Daniels was a workhorse on both ends of the court, finishing with 37 assists and nine digs.

Saddleback is now 11-2 overall and 4-2 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats will be on the road this week when they travel to Orange Coast College on Wednesday (6:00 PM) and Cypress College on Friday (6:00 PM).
