Bakersfield Loses Series against Golden West on Final Day

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted Golden West in the final game of a three game home series and fell, 9-3.

Golden West started the scoring drive in the third inning with a double down the infield line to get two runs. The Rustler not only found themselves leading with two runs but adding four at the fourth. 

Bakersfield struggled to get a run from GW's pitcher, Johnnie Valdez Jr, who had four strikeouts before the Renegades got their first run at the bottom of the fourth. Catcher Xabi Iparragui singled to center field for Jarrett Brannen to score (6-1).

The Renegades would add three more runs in the fifth before Golden West ran away with the game at the ninth scoring three more runs.

Joseph Alatorre scored on a sacraficed bunt from Andrew Townson and Jose Ruiz singled to center field for Jacob Baker to score.

Kyle Langston got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went four innings with two strikeouts to grab a no decision while Tim Ruiz finished the night. 

BC collected twelve hits on the night with two errors compared to eleven hits and two errors for Golden West .

The Renegades will be back at home Tuesday (3/01) to take on Fullerton College, with a 2pm start time.
