Baseball: Wozniak dominates on the mound, Rustlers win 10-1

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Between a six inning shutout performance by Brett Wozniak and a hot start by the offense, the Rustlers secured their fifth win of the season on Thursday against LA Pierce.

Out of the 23 Brahma batters Wozniak faced, three successfully got a hit, two reached first on balls, and eight became victims of strikeouts. Following this performance, he earned his second win of the season.

"A couple of hits were off my changeup. I pitched my two-seam [and] just stuck with my four-seam all game," Wozniak said. "My curveball, I was really feeling it, and my cutter was on point today."

By the end of the third inning, the Rustlers had scored all 10 of their runs, a handful of those unearned. The Brahmas saw a RBI triple from Steven Casas who collected a second RBI off a sacrifice fly in the third.  Luis Gutierrez singled and brought in Miles Jenkins. Jenkins also had a pair of RBI off of two singles. Jonah Sebring hit a double, as did Mylan Jones late in the game.

"It's always nice when the hitters score eight runs in two innings, and we can just go out there and cruise," Wozniak said.

Batting went silent for both teams until a solo shot was given up by Jason Blood in the top of the eighth inning.
