Cuesta Softball outclassed one-win Santa Monica, 9-2, in a Western State Conference match-up. After going down in order in the 1st inning, Cuesta scored a run in each of the next five innings to outpace the Corsairs. First Baseman Natalie Ziegler and Third Baseman Kat Cline led Cuesta's offense and were the only Cougars to enjoy a multi-hit day. Ziegler was 2-for-4 with two runs score and a RBI, while Cline was 2-for-3 with one run scored and 2 RBI. The Corsairs were able to hold off a "run-rule" defeat after collecting a pair of runs in the 6th, thanks to a double and a Cuesta error, but only managed only two other singles on the day. Cuesta Pitcher Rylee Murry struckout a season-high five batters and went the distance for her 6th win of the year.
The Cougars are scheduled to host a doubleheader with #2 Monterey Peninsula on Saturday (12/2 PM), however in a reaction to the California Department of Public Health guidance Cuesta has determined that Effective immediately, all non-essential public gatherings and events shall be cancelled or postponed until April 12, 2020.
