No. 11 Cypress Forces Win or Go Home as No. 3 Baseball Drops Game Two of Super Regionals

The Riverside City College baseball team hosted the Cypress College Chargers in game two of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Super Regionals. The Tigers were outplayed behind a strong showing from the Charger's offense leading to a 18-5 defeat.

Riverside allowed a season-high 18 runs with a run differential of 13 acting as their largest margin of loss on the season.

Freshman right hander Giancarlo Flores toed the slab and got banged around for three runs on three hits including a two-run blast in the first inning. The bullpen, unfortunately, followed suit as each reliever gave up at least two runs. Freshman reliever Philip Ledesma had the longest outing by traveling three innings, but still allowed a pair of runs.

Offensively, the Tigers plated two runs in the fifth inning followed by two more in the sixth inning. Freshman designated hitter Bret Bowers singled to shortstop, plating freshman third baseman Ignacio Alvarez. Freshman right fielder Matthew Bardowell scored on a passed ball the following pitch.

Freshman center fielder Julian Alvarez was responsible for the third Tiger's run as he wore a pitch with the bases loaded, sending freshman left fielder Casey Murray home. I. Alvarez capped the inning with a single to left field, scoring freshman second baseman Beau Betten.

I. Alvarez singled through right side in the top of the eighth inning to score freshman catcher Maxwell Shor, but the deficit was too large leading to the loss.

Flores (4-4) was tabbed with the loss. Bowers went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while I. Alvarez barreled two hits and drove in two runs.
