When the smoked finally cleared and the last out was made in the WSC South game at Canyons Friday April 8, visiting Glendale came away with its 16th straight win, improved to 15-0 in conference play and 26-5 overall with a 21-13 win. In all both teams combined for 34 runs and 37 hits and the Canyon's pitching staff was so depleted thar they had to use a position player to pitch the end of the game.

In clinching at least a tie for the 2022 conference title, Glendale had the game under control leading 12-7 before Canyons scored six times in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead 13-12, before the Vaqs scored nine unanswered runs in the eighth and nine innings combined to make up the final score. GCC had seven extra base hits in the game including homers by Brandon Nguyen, Isaiah Velazco, Alex Mills and Izzy Madariaga and Velazco had five RBI and Joey Craig had five runs scored. Adrian Gonzalez and Madariaga had four hits each and relief pitcher Aedan Cunningham got the win in his 2.2 innings on the mound.

Glendale hosts Santa Barbara Tuesday April 12 at 2:30 P,M at Stengel Field in week of non-conference Easter Break week of games and face second place L.A. Valley College starting Tuesday April 19 and any win over the Monarchs in the three-game series that week will give the Vaqs the outright conference title.
