GRIFFINS COME OUT FLAT AND PAY FOR IT

SYLMAR — Sometimes things don't go as planned.

That was the case as the Grossmont College Baseball team (3-2) had a two-run lead disappear in three outs, and could not recover as they lost 6-4 to LA Mission College in the front end of a home and home. The Eagles (1-4) will return the favor and come to El Cajon on Thursday for the Griffins home opener.

Freshman Luke Mansy led the Griffin hitting attack with a 3-for-5 day with an RBI. Sophomores Noah Lane and Luke Denos both had two hits and each had a run scored.

Braiz Ramirez (0-2) was tagged with the loss after going four innings allowing five hits and only two runs. He walked a pair and struck five batters out.

"We came out flat," head coach Randy Abshier said on the ride home. "Championship clubs must overcome and compete for every at-bat, pitch and play. There are no taking plays off. We need to come out Thursday and play like every play is important!"

The Griffins and Eagles will have first pitch on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Noel Michelsen Field on campus.
