In each of the Cerritos College volleyball matches this season, they have been able to remain competitive, although the end result has eluded them so far. On Wednesday in their South Coast Conference match against host Rio Hondo College, the Falcons battled through a long first set, but came up short, 22-25. After that set, the Roadrunners (4-4, 1-1) went on to sweep Cerritos (0-11, 0-4), 22-25, 12-25, 19-25. The Falcons will get a week off to regroup and then host San Bernardino Valley College in a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match on October 5.

Against Rio Hondo, sophomore Aiyana Sierra (La Mirada HS) led the way with 10 kills and had a .320 hitting percentage, which was one of her best of the season. As a team, the Falcons received kills from just four players, as freshman Kaydence Portillo (Bell Gardens HS) posted five kills, while sophomore Abby Gutierrez (Downey HS) finished with four kills and nine digs.

Sophomore setter Carissa Mendibles (Downey HS) recorded 17 assists and added 10 digs from the back row, while sophomore Breanna Lizarraga (Paramount HS) led the team with 13 digs and added a trio of service aces.
