Bulldogs Extend Streak to Three With Seventeen Runs at Cabrillo

APOTS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team collected a third consecutive victory after topping Cabrillo College, 17-12, in a non-conference showdown on Friday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (14-7, 3-1 WSC) jumped out early after Xchelle Glidewell plated one with a double to left-center and a triple from Madison Gamble scored another in the first, but Cabrillo (7-21, 2-5 Coast) cut the lead by sending one runner home in the same frame. Abigail Salazar picked up a pair of RBIs after a Seahawks error and Briana Munoz drove in one during the second inning. Carlissa Solorio's triple in the third frame added two runs and stretched the lead to six, but Cabrillo quickly cut the deficit in half with four runs after a triple and an error cleared the bases. 

Bats got hot for Hancock as they put up eight runs through the next three frames. Ehsya Glidewell sparked the rally after a bases-loaded walk in the fourth, followed by a two-run RBI single up the middle from Antoinette Terrones. Munoz added one in the fifth with a shot to right field before E. Glidewell tacked on two runs with a shot over the fence in the sixth. Salazar and Mya Mendoza also chipped in with one RBI apiece in the same frame. The Seahawks threatened a comeback in the bottom of the inning with a five-run surge, but the AHC squad managed to hold on for the win as both teams registered two runs apiece in the seventh.

Stellar offensive production led the Bulldogs to an impressive mark of 17 runs on 17 hits after a team batting average of .459 on the day. E. Glidewell led the way at the plate with three runs, four RBIs, and a 3-for-4 showing. Salazar tacked on three RBIs after a two-hit day while Munoz, Terrones, and Solorio each chipped in two. 

X. Glidewell (6-3) collected the win in the circle after allowing five earned runs on five hits through four innings of work. Munoz earned a no-decision after tossing the final in the final three frames. She also allowed five earned runs after scattering eight hits. Both pitchers struck out one batter.

The Bulldogs will continue a busy weekend of action with a non-conference doubleheader at Monterey Peninsula College on Saturday, March 26th.
