MC football captures first conference victory in rout of Santa Monica

The Moorpark College football team won its first American-Pacific Conference matchup Thursday night with a 49-13 road victory over Santa Monica College.

The Raiders (3-3) were led by a steady offensive attack, highlighted by three touchdown passes from QB Bennett Johnston and three rushing touchdowns from Gabe Landless, Quentin Pooler and Cameron Davis.

Louis Ortiz led the Raiders' defense with 12 solo tackles, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. Salah Hill had an interception.

Moorpark conceded the game's first points, but then scored 35 straight points which led to an eventual 35-6 lead late in the third quarter.

The Raiders will look to stay unbeaten in conference play when it hosts LA Pierce on Saturday, October 22 at 6 p.m.
