Fairfield, Calif. - Freshman Sammy Brown tallied 13 aces to lead the Falcons to a sweep of Alameda (25-6, 25-5, 25-7) in the Bay Valley Conference opener on Wednesday evening.

Brown added seven kills with freshmen Chris Rigney Cruz and Dani Rydjord adding seven each, respectively. Sophomore Kailyn Kaiser added five aces, while sophomore Mylei Moli counted four aces of her own.

Freshman Sarah Elledge had a solid match with five kills, hitting errorless, adding a pair of aces. Freshman Bryanna Lott chipped in a pair of kills with three digs, serving errorless on four attempts.

"We stumbled at the start, but we regained momentum to play steadily through all three sets," Solano women's volleyball head coach Darla Williams said. "All of our players played at least two sets, and we served really well and ran our offense flawlessly. I wanted them to focus on consistency and staying the moment for each play."

Solano (8-11, 1-0) has a extended break before hosting Contra Costa on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. Fans are welcome, but masks are required.
