SOFTBALL: CONFERENCE OPENER, A SHUTOUT WIN

The Hornets opened up Orange Empire Conference-play at home Wednesday afternoon against Riverside City College and blanked the Tigers 5-0.

It was a good day offensively for Fullerton after surprisingly getting shutout 5-0 the day before at Palomar College. The Hornets racked up 9 hits and 4 walks.

FC scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the second when Clarissa Hernandez belted a line drive to left center field plating Haylee Enriquez and Miranda Rooney.

In the fourth inning, Hornet pitcher Haylee Enriquez knocked a single to right center scoring Rooney and Emily Muro. With one out and the bases loaded, Khloe Lilavois hit one to deep center for a SAC fly giving Enriquez the chance to cross home plate.

Enriquez got her first start in the circle this season and made the best of it shutting out the Tigers. She went 7 innings with 5 hits against, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Up Next: Fullerton (2-3 overall, 1-0 conference) will host San Diego Mesa College this Friday, February 14th at 2:00 pm.
