Baseball Game At Porterville Delayed Due To Darkness

Reedley College baseball goes into this week's three-game series with the College of the Sequoias in second place in the Central Valley Conference after one win last week over Porterville College.
Reedley took a conference record of 5-3 and an overall record of 14-5 into a March 15 contest in Visalia with the COS Giants. The series continued on Thursday in Reedley at 2 p.m. before concluding at 1 pm Saturday in Visalia.


The Tigers fell two games behind the 5-1 Fresno City College Rams in the loss column after a 5-3 loss to a 3-18 Porterville College Pirate squad in Reedley on Saturday afternoon.
After recording an 11-1 victory over the Pirates on March 8, Reedley came from behind to take a 17-12 lead over Porterville on Thursday before the game was suspended due to darkness in the top of the ninth inning will be completed when Reedley returns to Porterville on April 21.


In the win over Porterville, Ryan Garza and three relievers combined to hold the Pirates to two hits and one run. Garza struck out eight and six innings.
At the plate, Kobe Kropf led a 10-hit attack with three singles and a double while Justin Tiger had two doubles, a single, and drove in three runs.


In the suspended game, Roman Rosales homered and drove in three runs for Reedley while Orin Hirschkorn had two doubles, a single, and drove in two runs. Nilen People's and Jordan Smith each contributed two hits.
Kropf and Smith each had two hits in the Saturday loss.
