Citrus College took on another strong opponent and forced four sets but couldn't overcome Orange Coast College, falling 3-1 (25-14, 25-13, 24-26, 25-13).
The Owls slip to 0-2 on the year while the Pirates improve to 3-0.
Caren Stone and Sabrina Evangelista led the Owls with eight kills apiece, followed by Gabriella Aguilar's six. Vanessa Marquez finished with 22 assists to help move the offense, while Jamie Murphy had three key aces to help Citrus win the third set.
Defensively, Alexia Aguayo had nine digs, followed by Stone, Marquez, and Evangelista, who each had eight.
The Owls look to shake off the loss as they head to the LA Mission Second Kickoff Classic this weekend. Citrus first faces Cypress at 10 a.m. on Friday.
