Tiger Baseball Wins Three Games Against Taft

A three-game sweep of Taft College last week featured an incredible comeback from an 8-run first inning deficit last Thursday afternoon by the Reedley College Tigers baseball team.
The three wins improved Reedley to 4-2 in Central Valley Conference action and 13-4 overall going into a three-game series with Porterville (0-5, 2-16) which began in Reedley on March 8. The series continued on Thursday at 2 pm in Porterville before concluding on Saturday at 1 pm in Reedley. The Tigers play at the College of the Sequoias on Tuesday, March 15.
Against Taft, Reedley rolled to an 18-1 win on March 1 at Taft before the 13-12 win in Reedley last Thursday and a 5-3 win in Taft on Saturday.
Before hitting the game-winner, Leo Arreguin had one hit in his last 14 at-bats. But he lined a two-out double down the right-field line to end the 3 hours and 41-minute thriller.
Taft closer Blake Logan retired the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth before walking pinch hitter Nathan Padilla. Koby Kropf followed with a double, his fourth hit of the game. Taft intentionally walked .441 hitter Justin Tiger to load the bases. After a wild pitch scored Padilla, Taft intentionally walked Orin Hirschkorn, who had reached base in his last three plate appearances, which included a two-run homer. That brought up Arreguin, an outfielder from Selma.
In the March 1 win, Tiger drove in five runs with four singles and a double while Roman Rosales and Kropf both knocked in three runs. Hirschkorn added a two-run homer.
Ryan Garza picked up the pitching win, allowing an unearned run in five innings.
In Saturday's victory, Hirschkorn hit another home run while Rosales had three hits. Starter Alec Trukki gave up two hits and a run in six innings to record the win.
