(Walnut, CA) In a doubleheader that concluded a four-game series between Mt. SAC (6-6) and Santa Ana College (7-5), the host Mounties came away with a pair of wins—9-6 in the first game, and 5-4 in the second—on Friday, April 30.

Mt. SAC 9 Santa Ana 6

Tied 3-3 in the middle of the fourth, Mt. SAC scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning, another in the fifth, and three more in the sixth en route to a 9-6 victory over the visiting Dons.

Jason Flores (2-3, 2B, R), Manny Casillas (1-3, 2B, R, 2 RBI), Hector Almaraz (1-4, RBI), Caleb Ellis (1-1, 2 R), Micahel Rosales (1-2, 2B, R, 2 RBI, SB), and CJ Ontiveros (1-2, R, RBI, SB) led the Mounties offensively. Cole Jordan (1-2, R) stole two bases for the home team.

Starter Michael Ortega (2-0) pitched 4.2 innings for Mt. SAC and struck out four to get the win.

Mt. SAC 5 Santa Ana 4

Trailing 4-0 through three, Santa Ana rallied to tie the score at four in the top of the fifth. The Mounties responded in the bottom of the sixth when Manny Casillas (2-2, 2B, R, RBI) scored what proved to be the winning run on a single by Cristian Enriquez (1-3, RBI).

Cole Jordan (1-4, R, 2 RBI), Jason Flores (1-4, 2B, RBI). and Blake Borgogno (1-3, R, SB) also played well for Mt. SAC.

Justin Estrada (1-0) picked up the win for the Mounties in relief of starter Noah Rinehart (4.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 6 SO). Estrada threw 2.2 innings, allowed no runs, and struck out three.

Mt. SAC returns to action on Tuesday, May 4, at Orange Coast College (10-1-1) at 2 p.m. to kick off a four-game series with the Pirates. Game 2 will take place at OCC on Thursday, May 6, at 2 p.m. and Games 3 and 4 will happen at Mt. SAC on Friday, May 7. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no spectators will be allowed.
