Tartars lose a close game to conference opponent Cerritos College

Compton CA - The Compton College Tartars baseball team lose in a nail-biter to conference foe Cerritos College Falcons 6-4.  

The Tartars would strike first on the scoring board. With the bases loaded in the second inning  Sevon Battle hit a base clearing double to center field, which gave the Tartars an early 3-0 lead. Starting right handed pitcher Adrian Lopez was able to keep the Falcons scoreless for six innings. Lopez would go on to have a total of six strikeouts and gave up two runs in the seventh inning.

At the end of the seventh inning the Tartars still clinged on to tight score of 3-2. However the Falcons bats would get hot when they needed them most as they went on to score four additonnal runs in the final inning to give them a 6-3 lead. The Tartars would attemp to make a rally in the bottom of the ninth but was only able to score one run as they would come up short with a final score of 6-4.

In honor of Athletic Trainer month. Head Athletic Trainer for Compton College David Berck threw out the first pitch. We would like to thank David Berck for his 17 years of service for our student athletes here at Compton College.

 

UP NEXT: The Tartars will be on the road next on Saturday, March 12th, as they play Cerritos College. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
