The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team dropped their first two games of the season to Cypress College on Wednesday. After beating Cypress last season to take possession of 1st place in conference the Chargers sought their revenge with a 10-4 and 12-0 victory.
The Hawks were led offensively by Sabrina Rivera who was 3-for-5 on the day with a double and an RBI. In game one, Rivera was a perfect 3-for-3 in the leadoff role with 2 runs scored, a stolen base, an RBI and a walk. Liliana Navarro was 2-for-4 in game one of the day with a 2 RBI single down the left field line. Scarlett Adams took the loss for SCC with 2 innings of work before being relieved by Kayla Romero who held the Chargers to 3 runs over the remaining 4 innings.
In Game two of the day, the Hawks had single hit performances from Adriana Martinez, Liliana Navarro, and Samantha Villanueva. Hailey Guillen recorded the loss after surrendering 6 runs over 3 innings of work.
The Hawks will face Cypress College once again on Friday, April 16th for a double header with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00pm. As a reminder, fans are not permitted to attend games at this time.
