M. Basketball; Eagles Drop Final Regular Season Game, Await Play-off Pairings

The MSJC men's basketball team lost their final regular season game of the season on Friday night in a tough one against visiting San Bernardino Valley 88-74, and now await to hear where they will open the CCCAA post season on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles expect to be given an opening round game on Wednesday February 26th with an opponent and location to be announced on the 24th.

As for the game on Friday the Eagles and Wolverines both looked like teams that could make a run in the post season as San Bernardino led the highly contested game by a score of 39-33 at halftime.  In the second half the Eagles stayed within striking distance, but could never quite shake the Wolverines from the lead.  SBVC had one of their best shooting nights of the season as they went 17 of 26 from the field in the first half and finished the night going 38 of 61 to shoot  62%.

For MSJC Kamien Cederlind, playing on his sophomore night, had a huge game as he scored 27 points with the help of 8 made three pointers.  Jamaal Barnes hit the double figure mark as well with 14 as did Lenzell Simmons who ended the night with 11.  Chidi Okwarabizie pulled in a team best 6 rebounds in the loss and Ethan Bell had a team high 5 assists.

The Eagles celebrated four sophomores prior to Friday night's contest, they were; Cederlind, Simmons, Okwarabizie, and Jernard Jackson.

MSJC finished the regular season with an overall record of 15-13, they went 11-5 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference which gave them a second place finish behind Chaffey.  San Bernardino wrapped up their regular season in third place in the league standings with a 10-6 record in conference, they were 19-9 overall.  Chaffey, MSJC, and San Bernardino are all expected to earn post season berths to the CCCAA Southern California Regional.
