Baseball Come Up Short in the First Game Against Golden West

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted Golden West in the first game of a three game home series and fell, 4-2.

Golden West started the scoring drive early with a pass ball, unearned, at the top of the second. The Rustler found themselves with two runs leading Bakersfield with a double to left center. 

Bakersfield struggled to get a run from GW's pitcher, Brett Wozniak, who had twelve strikeouts before the Renegades got their first run at the bottom of the eigth. Infielder Gillermo Monje singled to shortstop, advanced to second on a throwing error by shortstop for Joseph Alatorre to scored, unearned as well as Grant Holleman scored to tie the ball game at 2-2.

The tie didn't last long and the Rustlers found themselves back on top scoring two more runs at the top of the ninth. Although the Renegades were able to load the bases, they were unable to mount a comeback in the bottom of the inning and took the loss.

Jarrett Brannen got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went eight innings with five strikeouts to grab a no decision while Brady Fox finished the night. 

BC collected 3 hits on the night with zero errors compared to eight hits and three errors for Golden West .

The Renegades will be back at home tomorrow (2/25) for game two, with a 4pm start time.
