Baseball Takes Down El Camino 9-2

The Long Beach City College baseball team defeated the El Camino Warriors 9-2 for their second South Coast Conference matchup. With the win, the Vikings advance to 7-6 overall and are undefeated with a 2-0 record in conference play.

Freshman pitcher Moises Guzman (0-1) earned the win on the hill with only allowing the Warriors to one run, while striking out four in seven innings of work.

The Vikings came to bat with 2 RBI single in the bottom of the second from freshman third baseman Evan Vasquez to bring in freshman shortstop Alex Seguine, and freshman right fielder Raul Garcia to start their 2-0 lead over the Warriors.

In the fourth inning, Garcia doubled to center field to score in Guzman ad Seguine hit a sacrifice fly to score Garcia for the 4-0 lead.

The Warriors had a run in the top of the fifth, but the Vikings came back into action in the sixth inning with three runs from Seguine, Vazquez, and freshman first baseman Matthew Pinal.

The Warriors batted one in from and RBI double in the top of the eighth, but freshman center fielder Bryan Sanders ended the game with an RBI single to score in freshman catcher Malik Clayton to end the game with the 9-2 win.

The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26 at El Camino College at 12 p.m.
