Despite Big Day From Ott, Beavers Fall to DVC

DESPITE BIG DAY FROM OTT, BEAVERS FALL TO DVC

Tuesday’s game at Diablo Valley College started off with a bang as freshman CF Dominic Ott (Woodcreek) homered to left on the first pitch of the game.  It was his first collegiate home run.  The Beavers would add two more in the first chasing the Vikings starter before he recorded an out.  Freshman RHP Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) held DVC scoreless until the 4th when he hit the leadoff batter, followed that with a walk and another hit batter to load the bases.  After a double and a sac fly he was replaced by sophomore RHP Matt Kelly (Oak Hills) but Kelly had some issues of his own as he allowed a pair of runs before getting out of the inning with ARC down 6-4.  ARC closed the gap to 6-5 with a run in the 7th as sophomore SS Kevin Taylor (Thousand Oaks) scored after doubling off the center field fence with one out.  Sophomore RHP Nick Rosemont (Inderkum) and freshman LHP Josh Heinkel (Inderkum) held the Vikings scoreless until the 7th as sophomore RHP Christian Lucero (River City) came on in relief of Heinkel with two outs and runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Lucero got a ground ball but it found a hole on the right side allowing two runs to score.  The Vikings added another run to go up 9-5.  ARC added a run in the 9th as Taylor doubled again and Ott scored freshman C Drake Rossi (Temecula Valley) with a ground out for Ott’s 3rd RBI of the day.

The two teams will meet at Beaver Field on Thursday at 2:30.
