COD Women’s Soccer wallops Arabs in home opener, 7-0

COD (2-0) grabbed their second consecutive clean sheet and two different Roadrunners scored two goals each, as Desert celebrated their 2022 home opener with a lopsided win over the Imperial Valley Arabs (1-1), 7-0.

Sophomore starting goal keeper Jessica Uribe (Indio Shadow Hills) and freshman goal keeper Stephanie Pina (Indio H.S.) combined for the first clean sheet of the season, each player splitting keeper duties, with Uribe in net for almost 70 minutes. Freshman forward Montserrath Salazar (Indio H.S.) and freshman forward Dalaina Johnson (Cathedral City H.S.) had two goals a piece in the win.

The Roadrunners played the Imperial Valley Arabs for the first time in program history in 1997 and are now 29-2-1 all-time against Imperials Valley. Desert has an 16-1 record against IVC in Palm Desert.

The next game for Desert is on Friday, September 2nd at home against the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs of Valley Glen. The Roadrunners first played LA Valley in 2008 and have a 0-1-1 record against the Monarchs. Desert has never hosted the Monarchs in Palm Desert.
