Women's Basketball Comes Up Short in Title Game to Orange Coast

Lemoore, Calif. - Three Butte women's basketball starters combined for 54 points, but the Roadrunners came up short in the CCCAA Championship game, 78-71, on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomores Meghan Weinrich and Sanaya Shrader led the team with Weinrich tallying 21 points, nine boards, six assists, and five steals, while Shrader added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Sarah Tait chipped in 15 points.

After falling behind by double-figures in the first half, Butte battled back to being edged by one point going into halftime behind Weinrich and Shrader's 11 and 10 first-half points, respectively. The Roadrunners took a brief lead in the third, but were unable to hold on.

Butte posted its best run in postseason since 1993, finishing the season 28-4. Weinrich and Tait were named to the All-Tournament team.
