The West Valley baseball team picked up an important 6-4 win at Yuba Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings (2-5) took advantage of five Yuba errors, got a good outing from starter Ryan Sleeman and another long ball from Curran Ozawa-Burns.

After falling behind the 49ers (1-6) 2-0 in the first, Ozawa-Burns ripped a solo HR, his second on the year, to bring the Vikings to within 2-1. Steven Grizzle evened it up four batters later when he scored on a bases-loaded Kyle Riveron shot to second that was mishandled.

The Vikings put three on the board in the fifth as Cole Murchison scored on a Grizzle E5 and Ozawa-Burns and Grizzle came home on a two-run Jared Reupert double.

Jonathan Teschner's RBI single in the sixth knocked in Riveron, who had reached on a double. Yuba scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but Matt Atencio closed it out with a pair of strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Sleeman picked up the win, scattering six hits and striking out five in six innings. Ozawa-Burns finished 2-4 with the homer and two runs scored.

West Valley returns to Valhalla Friday (2/7) for a 1:00pm game against Marin (1-6).
