Hawks Split Final Homestand

The Cosumnes River College Softball team split a home doubleheader with American River College Friday afternoon with a 3-2 win in the opener and an 11-6 loss in the second. It marked the last homestand of the season for the Hawks and closed with a ceremony honoring sophomores Ryley Krum, Kiki Lathipanya, Emilee Mort, Lexxy Thompson, and Malia Villegas.

Game One

The Hawks won a nail-biter to open the day. The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on hits by Ashlee Toy, Danielle Pfennig, and Ryley Krum. CRC sustained the lead behind the pitching of Toy who struck out five and limited ARC to two late runs. Krum led the way offensively with three hits and two RBI. Leandra Coronado, Toy and Pfennig scored for the Hawks.

Game Two

The back end of the doubleheader was a slugfest. The Hawks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and four more in the second. However, CRC could not keep the momentum as the Beavers stormed back exploding for nine runs in the last two innings. Ryley Krum and Kiki Lathipanya led the way for CRC. Krum was 3-4 with a home run and three RBI while Lathipanya was 3-3 with a double and an RBI. Danielle Pfennig, Leandra Coronado, and Anissya Avendano also added two hits each for CRC.
